FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW THE CUSTOMER IS CHARGED – Movers charge for labor, trucks, travel time and material. All of the charges must be filed with the local state agency (in New York , the D.O.T.) A mover is not allowed to charge more or less than the filed rates, known as the tariff. LABOR & TRUCKS – You pay an hourly rate for a truck and a designated number of men. Your time starts when they clock you in at the point of origin, until they finish at your new address.
TRAVEL TIME – This is for the men to travel to their next job or back to the office after they have completed your job.
MATERIALS – This is the cost of boxes, tape and other packing material provided by the mover during the move.
BLANKET INSURANCE - This is a basic insurance included with the price of the job. It is $.30 per pound per article. It covers your possessions and boxes packed by you.
INSURANCE / VALUATION – This is an additional charge to the customer to cover his or her goods in case of damage.
